SHANTUNG SILK

Shantung silk is a very precious and sought-after fabric. Its history has its roots in ancient China , and precisely in the Shandong region, from which it takes its name. Ours comes from Como , which continues to be a crossroads between East and West for the production of the best silks in the world.

It is the result of a double silk thread, produced by two silkworms that build the cocoon together, a very rare event, which is why it is so precious. Technically, it would be the result of a defect. However, given its rarity, its imperfections, flakes , lumps , buttons and knots become the founding elements of its uniqueness and recognisability.

Shantung silk is also durable and resistant to wear. Its surface is embossed and soft to the touch and offers a delicate iridescent brightness. This silk is perfect for making very refined ties. It is warm in winter and cool in summer, it is also hypoallergenic and is perfect for both day and evening. In addition, it is suitable for both informal and casual occasions.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF IT

When you take off your tie after wearing it, you can do two things: keep it flat in a drawer or at most folded in half, or use a tie hanger to keep in the closet.

A tie should never be washed in a washing machine or with water, but should be taken to a dry cleaner for dry cleaning. The tie should not be ironed, either dry or steamed. At most, to revive the creases caused by wearing it and the fibers, you can distribute a jet of steam from a distance.

In any case, if you happen to stain it or ruin it in some way, we suggest you contact us so that, if necessary, we can intervene with a product restoration thanks to our regeneration service.

HANDMADE IN ITALY

It all started in our laboratory in Pontecagnano in the province of Salerno, where what was initially the vision of two women, mother and daughter (Marisa and Veronica), later became a family story that dedicates its days to the creation of unique products.

Here since 1994 tradition and passion have come together to give life to this tie and all our other items, aiming every day to research new materials and new styles.
